Privacy policy
Cards by Jennie (Minto Views Pty Ltd ABN 91 137 310 537) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can access or correct it.
We are a small Australian business. Small businesses with an annual turnover under three million dollars are currently exempt from parts of the Privacy Act 1988 in some circumstances, but we have chosen to handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles regardless.
What we collect
When you shop with us or contact us, we may collect:
- Your name, email address, delivery address, billing address and phone number
- Your order history and any notes or messages you send us
- Payment details, which are processed directly by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card number
- If you apply for a wholesale account, your business name, ABN and trading address
- Technical information collected automatically, including your IP address, browser, device type, the pages you view and how you arrived at our site
How we collect it
Most of it you give us directly, when you place an order, create an account, join our mailing list, apply for a wholesale account or send us a message.
Some is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you browse the site. Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
Why we use it
- To process, pack and deliver your order
- To contact you about your order
- To answer your questions
- To send marketing emails, but only where you have asked to receive them
- To operate, secure and improve our website
- To detect and prevent fraud
- To meet our obligations under Australian tax and consumer law
Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary, and only with:
- Shopify, which hosts our online store and processes orders
- Our payment providers, to take payment securely
- Australia Post and our couriers, to deliver your order
- Our email marketing platform, if you have subscribed
- Analytics and advertising providers, including Google and Meta, which receive website usage data
- Our accountant and, where required, government agencies
We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we have no intention of doing so.
Information sent overseas
Some of the providers above store data outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada, the European Union and Singapore. Where we disclose your information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Marketing and how to stop it
We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works, and we action unsubscribes promptly. You can also email us and ask to be removed at any time. This is how we comply with the Spam Act 2003.
Unsubscribing from marketing will not stop order confirmations, dispatch notices or replies to your enquiries. Those are not marketing.
How we keep it safe
We use reputable providers, secure connections and access controls, and we limit who can see customer data. No system is completely secure, but we take the protection of your information seriously and will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for seven years to meet Australian tax requirements. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Other information is kept only as long as we need it.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email jennie@cardsbyjennie.com.au and we will respond within thirty days. We may need to verify who you are first. In limited cases we may not be able to delete information we are legally required to keep, such as invoices.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first at jennie@cardsbyjennie.com.au and we will do our best to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always sits on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
